DSPT #49 – Is this FAKE?! Detecting human activity and keeping it real! (Aveiro)

published by root - 6 April, 2019

Are your eyes and ears lying to you? Is what you are seeing in that video or image real? Can Data Science solve this and even be able to detect abnormalities in human motion and help us be healthier?

On february 27 , we had a talk from Joana Silva, a Fraunhofer researcher, about inertial sensors data processing for recognizing human activities and characterizing movements. The talk unveiled the Fraunhofer Motion technology that brings human motion analysis outside of the lab.

On the second part of the event, we were presented the Insights from a NATO Stratcom competition by a talk that gave us insights on how to detect malicious use of video/photographic content online from Daniel Canedo and Ricardo Ribeiro, two junior researchers from the Institute of Electronics and Informatics of Aveiro.
