Deeper Insights is an AI consultancy with a focus on business intelligence and analytics. Our data experts and our Skim Engine platform enable clients to utilize data from unstructured and external sources. Our mission is to design and build custom AI solutions to empower business leaders to become data-driven decision-makers. Examples include automated back-office processes, augmented analytics, predictive analytics, and alternative dataset creation.

We work with a range of clients from Healthcare to Financial Services, both scale-up and enterprise. We also offer our time on pro-bono projects that support the 3rd sector. We’re an award-winning practice, recognised for both our consulting services and the work we’ve done in the 3rd sector.

We are a distributed team across UK and Portugal and practice a Remote First way of working, supported by strong Agile and X-teams methodologies. We’re looking for someone to join the company who has a unique set of skills and experience as noted in the Requirements section below. But, most importantly, we hire conscientious computer and data scientists, who like to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Job Role

As an experienced (mid-level) ML Engineer with solid Python programming and software engineering skills, and a good knowledge of Machine Learning and NLP algorithms and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, Keras, SpaCy), you will be part of a team of Data Scientists and Software Engineers, and help them translate ML prototypes into production-level software. Your responsibilities will include converting ML prototypes into clean, modular, and elegant code, writing unit and integration tests adapted to Machine Learning, training and retraining models when necessary, deploying ML models in production (on-premise or in the cloud, depending on our client), and monitoring the performance of those models after deployment.

We expect from you a high level of autonomy and initiative, adaptability, and a lifelong learner mindset.

Required Skills

A ML Engineer with proven experience and great collaboration and communication capabilities.

  • Mid-level: 2+ years experience in the Machine Learning Engineer role
  • BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science, similar or equivalent practical experience
  • Good knowledge of ML algorithms and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, Keras)
  • Solid Python programming experience and adherence to PEP8 style rules
  • Good grasp of Object-Oriented Programming
  • Knowledge and adoption of Software Engineering best practices
  • Commitment to writing high-quality documentation
  • Proficiency in version control using git and Github
  • Good experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Good knowledge of ML monitoring tools
  • Experience in using deployment pipelines: CircleCI, ArgoCD
  • Experience with cloud providers: GCP or AWS
  • Experience with Agile methodologies: Scrum or Kanban
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Autonomous and eager to learn
