The opportunity

We are looking for a Data Engineer (80%) or a very hands-on Data Architect (20%), working on our next generation of products. You will be exposed to several cutting-edge technologies, such as computer vision, neural networks and more.

 

The role can be remote (in Portugal) or with the Torpedo team. Candidate must have suitable remote working conditions to be considered for remote role.

 

Due to the nature of the role and industry we are in, the role is challenging, interesting and with plenty of scope to grow. You will be:

  • Developing from the ground up our new suite of products
  • Developing the ETL Framework, data pipelines and data models that will power the products and ML models
  • Finding creative ways to solve technical problems (e.g. architecture, performance, compliance)
  • Interacting with the product team, clinicians, technical teams, and customers to develop best of breed products
  • Hands-on with both backend and frontend integration.
  • Given opportunities to lead on new and upcoming projects with potential to adopt new technologies and frameworks.

 

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A passionate data engineer/architect

  • Curious with an analytical mind

  • Keen to take ownership of your projects, build on your experience, and learn new technologies supporting both the business and product development.

Key knowledge, skills and experience

  • Must have in-depth experience in SQL and scripting languages (ideally Python)
  • Proficient knowledge of database technologies & DB Architecture (MYSQL / Postgres/…)
  • Proficient with ETL tools (e.g. Lambda / Pentaho / Glue / Stitch / Talend)
  • Proficient in documenting data models and building data dictionaries (UML)
  • Experience with GIT subversion control and Git Flow
  • Experience working with modern enterprise frameworks
  • Exposure and use of cloud services for Big Data
  • Exposure to unit test frameworks

 

Bonus skills and experience

  • Exposure to additional programming languages is advantageous – e.g. Golang, C#, .Net Core or Java
  • Cross-platform development experience
  • Understanding of data warehousing principles
  • Experience of micro-services using tools such as Kubernetes & Docker
  • Experience with MLOps
  • TOGAF Certification or experience
  • Awareness of GDPR & Clinical Data Management
  • AWS certifications

Further to the above, development of software as a medical device and familiarity with related ISO standards (specifically 13485, 62304 and 14971) will be an advantage for this role. Training will be provided as required.

  • Commercial experience: 6 years
